Sacred Woman Healing Circle

Experience healing, inspiration and transformation in a sacred safe space. Each month we will explore a different topic as we learn to heal ourselves and the planet. Topics include: holistic healing, relationships, healthy foods, natural beauty care, space clearing, practical intuition, sacred movement, deepening your own spiritual practice, and more. New members may join any time.


Class will be held from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on the 2nd & 4th Thursdays each month from 7:00-9:00 p.m.

Maya's Oasis is a small dance/event studio located in the Northland area of Kansas City, MO. Located on 3 acres of wooded land in a rural neighborhood, Maya's Oasis is both peaceful and conveniently located. This small and cozy location features our holistic health classes, Reiki sessions, small semi-private belly dance classes and private belly dance lessons. Please pull into the gravel driveway and park in the grass.

Cost:
$35 per month ($20 drop-in per individual class)

Facilitated by Maya Zahira, this women’s circle, is modeled after the work and teachings of Maya’s mentor and friend, Kathy Daugherty, as well as the writings of authors Dr. Christiane Northrup, Queen Afua and others. Sacred Woman Healing Circle is a bi-monthly women’s circle which meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 pm in northland Kansas City, MO. Call 816-476-6292 for details. • Assist you in attuning your body to the natural rhythms of the planet to encourage healing individually and globally.
• Help you successfully reach your goals by hearing your own guidance and being led by it.


Beginning Belly Dance Technique
In this basic beginner's dance technique class, students will learn all the foundations of this ethnic dance form and get some great exercise!

This class will cover the basics of hip, rib cage, and arm isolations, as well as simple turns, traveling steps, veil work, combinations, choreography, and finger cymbals.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Instructor will provide materials including hip scarf, finger cymbals, and veil. Materials will also be available for purchase.

Did you know that belly dancing looks beautiful on women of ALL ages, shapes, and sizes? Join us for creative movement and exercise in a positive, supportive and fun setting! Ages 14 and up preferred. No experience necessary.


Intermediate/Advanced Belly Dance Technique

Students in this technique class will learn additional belly dance movements, combinations, and choreography. Performance opportunities may be provided, but are not required.

Prerequisite: four or more sessions of Beginning Belly Dance or equivalent.

Recommended Materials: hip scarf, veil, finger cymbals, may be purchased from instructor


Open Level Belly Dance Technique
This multi-level dance technique class covers the basic fundamentals of belly dance, including hip, rib cage, and arm isolations, as well as intermediate concepts such as turns, traveling steps, veil work, finger cymbals, props and balancing, plus combinations and choreography! The instructor will modify class content based on the needs and abilities of the class.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Come join us for creative movement and exercise in a positive, supportive and fun setting!

Recommended Materials: hip scarf, veil, finger cymbals, may be purchased from instructor


Belly Dance Skills and Drills
Join us for this fun-filled class intended for every level of student. In this “grab bag” style class we will pick moves out of a bag, cover the basic through advanced technique for each move, then use the moves for improvisation and fun dance combinations. Skills will include smooth and staccato moves, veil, finger cymbals, and more. All levels welcome.


Belly Dance Blast! TM (fitness class)
Looking for a new and different type of workout? Belly dancing is now a popular trend in exercise! In this class, you’ll get a TOTAL BODY workout. You’ll raise your heart rate, burn fat, and tone your muscles.

This aerobics-format class includes warm-up and break-down of basic belly dance movements, plus traveling steps, shimmies, hip, torso, leg, and abdominal exercises, and sustained arm movements.

This class is appropriate for all levels of students from beginner to advanced. It is a great way for new students to cover the basics, and for seasoned belly dancers to stay in excellent shape for performance.

Please wear athletic shoes and comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Bring water and be ready to sweat!


Belly Dance Flow
This class covers beginning bellydance movements in a slow, flowing, gentle format suitable for all levels.


Slow Burn-Belly Dance Workout TM
Looking for a new and different type of workout? The sumptuous, snakey belly dance movements in SLOW BURN-BELLY DANCE WORKOUT will tone your muscles and strengthen your entire body.

This class is beginner-friendly! Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Bring water and be ready to sweat!


Sacred Woman Belly Dance
Belly dance is an ancient form of movement that has been used throughout history in women’s celebrations and rites of passage. In this class, participants are gently guided to express the beautiful, feminine, sacred woman that lies within each of us. Not only is belly dance great fun and wonderful exercise, it can also benefit us in more profound ways. Through belly dance, we open ourselves to the potential of emotional and physical healing, increased body awareness, and the healing of body image and self-esteem.

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. (You don’t have to show your stomach.)

This class is beginner-friendly. Instructor will provide materials such as hip scarf, veil, and finger cymbals. Materials will also be available for purchase.



Wellness Belly Dance
Belly dance is an ancient form of movement that has been used throughout history in community celebrations and rites of passage. The benefits of belly dance are numerous, including stress reduction, improved self-esteem, and increased flexibility, balance, and strength. In Wellness Belly Dance, our focus will be on body awareness, emotional and physical healing, proper body alignment and technique, and of course, fun!

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. No equipment or experience necessary. All levels are welcome.
