Inclement Weather Policy
The inclement weather policy varies from class location to location. As a general rule, when the local public school system closes for inclement weather, The Maya Zahira School will not hold classes. Please check our home page for updates on class cancellations.

Class Payment
We accept cash, checks, and credit cards.

The class registration fee is due on or before the first class. Students will not be allowed to attend class without paying.

Contact the class location you will be attending for information on registration and payment.

The instructor reserves the right to remove any student from class for non-payment.

A $25 charge will be assessed on all returned NSF checks. Full payment must then be made in cash or by money order before student can return to class. Thereafter, no additional checks will be accepted from this student, cash or money order only.

Refunds
Once a student has registered for a class session, it is the student’s responsibility to attend all classes. Absolutely no refunds will be given for missed classes.

It is our policy to not give refunds for class fees. Please contact the school’s director if you have special circumstances that need to be considered.

Classroom Management
Students are expected to arrive on time.

Classes will not be delayed for late students. If you must be late, please enter as quietly as possible.

Please wait outside of the dance studio until the class before yours is dismissed. Never enter while another class is in session, except with permission from the instructor.

No candy, food, or drink while dancing.

As a courtesy to all students and instructors, students should refrain from holding personal conversations while class is in session.

Turn all cell phones and pagers off during class. If you must make a call, please do so outside of the classroom.

Instructor reserves the right to remove any student from class for disruptive, disrespectful, or dangerous behavior.

Dress Code
Students should wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement. Form-fitting clothing is best. Jeans and other restrictive clothing are strongly discouraged.

Shoes: bare feet, ballet slippers, jazz shoes, or dance sandals are recommended. Athletic shoes are recommended for the Belly Dance Conditioning Workout. For safety reasons, absolutely no stocking feet or flip-flops.

Performances
Students may be provided with community performances opportunities. All performances are completely optional.

Any student wishing to participate in a School performance must be currently enrolled in classes, and must attend all rehearsals, except with express permission from the School’s Director.

The Director reserves the right to determine the required costume for each performance. Any student(s) not meeting costume requirements will not be permitted to perform, except with the express permission from the Director.

Expulsion Policy
Students can be expelled from the School, as deemed necessary by any instructor with the consent of the School’s Director, due to disruptive, disrespectful, or dangerous behavior, or failure to pay class costs in a timely manner. Students who are expelled will be responsible for all class fees owed. Any student who is expelled from the School may not return to class without written consent from the School’s Director.
